Ingredients
  

For the Saba Misoni
  • 2 fillets mackerel
  • 2 tbsp miso paste
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sake
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 piece green onion chopped

Method
 

  1. Step 1: In a medium saucepan, combine the miso paste, sugar, soy sauce, sake, and water. Stir until the miso and sugar are fully dissolved.
  2. Step 2: Add the mackerel fillets to the saucepan, skin side down. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  3. Step 3: Cover the saucepan and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the mackerel is cooked through and tender.
  4. Step 4: Once done, carefully remove the mackerel from the saucepan and place it on a serving plate.
  5. Step 5: Drizzle some of the miso sauce over the mackerel and garnish with the chopped green onion before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. You can also freeze the mackerel in the sauce for up to a month.
