- Step 1: In a bowl, combine mirin, soy sauce, sake (if using), sugar, and sesame oil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Step 2: Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Step 3: Preheat your grill or a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Step 4: Remove the salmon from the marinade, reserving the marinade for later use.
- Step 5: Cook the salmon fillets for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until cooked through and flaky.
- Step 6: Meanwhile, bring the reserved marinade to a boil in a small saucepan and simmer for a few minutes to thicken slightly.
- Step 7: Serve the salmon topped with the thickened marinade, chopped green onions, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
Notes
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat gently to keep it moist.
