- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a round cake pan with parchment paper.
- Step 2: In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and unsalted butter together over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- Step 3: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until pale and fluffy.
- Step 4: Gradually add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg mixture, stirring continuously until well combined.
- Step 5: In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Step 6: Gently fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Step 7: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Step 9: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
To store your cake, simply wrap it tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. It will stay fresh at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week. You can also freeze it for up to 3 months.
