Ingredients
  

For the Sushi Rice
  • 2 cups sushi rice provides the perfect base
  • 2.5 cups water essential for cooking the rice
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar adds a tangy flavor
  • 2 tbsp sugar balances the acidity of the vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt enhances the overall flavor
For the Toppings
  • 1/2 cup pickled ginger traditional topping
  • 1 cup assorted sashimi fresh and colorful, like salmon or tuna
  • 1 cup vegetables thinly sliced (carrots, cucumbers, etc.)
  • 1/4 cup edible flowers optional for decoration
For Serving
  • soy sauce

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Step 2: Combine the rinsed rice and water in a rice cooker or pot, bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes.
  3. Step 3: Prepare the vinegar mixture by heating rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved, then let it cool.
  4. Step 4: Transfer cooked rice to a large bowl, gently fold in the vinegar mixture, and let it cool to room temperature.
  5. Step 5: On a plate, arrange sushi rice into a mound, and top with assorted sashimi and thinly sliced vegetables.
  6. Step 6: Garnish with pickled ginger and edible flowers (if using).
  7. Step 7: Serve with soy sauce on the side.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
