Method
- Step 1: In a mixing bowl, combine the glutinous rice flour, matcha green tea powder, and sugar. Stir until well mixed.
- Step 2: Gradually add water to the dry ingredients, stirring until the mixture is smooth and free of lumps.
- Step 3: Pour the mixture into a microwave-safe dish and cover it with plastic wrap, leaving a small vent for steam.
- Step 4: Microwave on high for 1 minute. Carefully stir the mixture, cover again, and microwave for an additional 1 minute. Repeat this process one more time for a total of 3 minutes.
- Step 5: Gently remove the dish from the microwave. The mochi should look sticky and slightly translucent.
- Step 6: Dust a clean surface with cornstarch. Transfer the mochi dough onto the surface and sprinkle more cornstarch on top to prevent sticking.
- Step 7: Let the mochi cool slightly, then divide it into small pieces using a knife or kitchen scissors.
- Step 8: Flatten each piece and place your desired filling in the center. Pinch the edges together to seal and shape it into a ball.
- Step 9: Roll each finished mochi in cornstarch to avoid sticking.
- Step 10: Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Enjoy your homemade treats!
Notes
Store your Green Tea Mochi in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a day. If you want to keep it longer, place it in the refrigerator where it can last for about 2-3 days. Just remember to dust it with cornstarch again if it gets a bit sticky!
